At the beginning of Ramadan Month, Palestinian poor and
needy families were thinking about how to get their basic needs for their
families and children and they
considered this a big suffering due to their bad economic situation , but the thing that they didn’t expect that
they will face more and more sufferings and will live in a war for the rest of
Ramadan.
Before Ramadan, more than 70% of the Palestinian population
were receiving humanitarian aid, the ability to feed one's family is the
greatest struggle for the people of Gaza.
The month of Ramadan came while Gaza Strip is still
suffering from the siege imposed on it for several years, this siege has
deteriorated the situation and affected all the fields in Gaza Strip.
Every family in Gaza has their suffering, sadness and,
thousands of families are asking how to welcome Ramadan while they are in their
deteriorated conditions.
Signs of grief and misery inhabit the faces of the people
who suffer from the sever poverty and bad economic situation which lead to
deterioration in the living conditions.
Due to this difficult situation, thousands of families can't
afford to get the basic special needs for Ramadan. Also the increase of prices
for most goods has increased the burden of those families.
The recent war imposed on Gaza Strip, added more sufferings
to hundreds of people. On 8 July 2014, a humanitarian emergency was declared in
the Gaza Strip, following an escalation in hostilities involving intense
Israeli aerial and naval bombardment and Palestinian rocket fire into Israel.
This is the worst escalation of conflict in the Gaza Strip since the beginning
of the Israeli occupation, surpassing the length and severity of Israel’s
2008/2009 Operation “Cast Lead”.
The humanitarian impact of these strikes in Gaza comes at a
time of heightened vulnerability and instability in Gaza. Unemployment has
increased dramatically since mid-2013, following a halt of the illegal tunnel
trade and, exacerbating the impact of the blockade and the longstanding access
restrictions imposed by Israel which have been preventing any meaningful
economic activity. Additionally, public sector salaries have not been paid regularly since August
2013.
An emergency response is required to meet the most urgent
needs, particularly those stemming from the massive number of displaced persons
specially in the month of Ramadan. This project was so helpful in order to
contribute to end to the human suffering of the people in Gaza.
This project included food distribution programs to
facilitate the life of the Palestinian people and alleviate their suffering.
